About Me

Welcome to The Curiosity Compass! This is a blog catered to the sensitive and anxious souls who have always wanted to travel but felt barriers in their way.

I’m Sarah Curless, a 19-year-old trainee journalist with a passion for writing, photography, storytelling and, of course, travel!

For much of my life, I was too anxious to leave the house, let alone step foot on a plane.

Being neurodivergent and battling with my mental health, I was led to believe that my dreams of travel were too ambitious.

But years later, there I was gazing up at Mount Fuji feeling the happiest I had felt in my entire life. I realised that when you believe in yourself, anything is possible.

Ever since, I have fallen in love with travelling and dream of exploring every corner of the world and learning as much as I can about its inspiring people and places.

My mission is now to help other people in my position, and make travel accessible to all.

I am here to show that anxiety and mental health are not things that magically disappear on a plane ride, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t book the ticket.

Come along on my journey as I pursue my dream of exploring the world and document the adventures, stories, and lessons along the way.

I hope that through my stories and advice, I can empower more people in a similar position to me to travel. Whether you struggle with mental health or are generally anxious, I am here to show you that you can go after your dreams.

I hope that I can help more people experience the transformative nature of travel!
